About me

If you are looking for someone to play the bagpipes for a wedding, funeral, memorial service or other special event, I invite you to contact me (Metro Atlanta and North Georgia).    I am also available for teaching beginner/intermediate students and helping with bagpipe maintenance and setup.  

I have played the Great Highland Bagpipe for over two decades and have since played many public and private events in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I understand that your event is special and I make every effort to make it as memorable as possible. I am NEVER late for a performance, and always early!!!!

I started my Bagpipe Journey in 1998, joining the Rockford Pipes and Drums near Chicago, Illinois. I have also performed in Europe with the Brussels Caledonian Corneymusers in Belgium.

Currently I play and compete Solo and Band performances with the Grade 3 Atlanta Pipe Band. In addition, I continue to play in performance with North Georgia Pipe Band (you may have seen me at the annual St. Patrick's Day performances every year in Alpharetta at Avalon ! ).

In case you are curious about my last name, I didn't inherit a Scottish name from my father (Kaus is polish). I do have a fine line on my mother's side of the family with Ulster Scottish ancestry (amongst the Irish/English/German). Clan Cochrane is the family tartan/badge I prefer to represent when possible. The drone of the highland Bagpipes and the blend of the chanter must have gotten in my blood somehow.

P.S. For my Polish family, I have learned how to pipe "Happy Birthday" in Polish "Sto Lat". Are you happy now?

Teaching

I offer structured and progressive Intro and Intermediate teaching instruction for students interested in learning to play Great Highland Bagpipe. I can make your lessons FUN but structured and customized to your ability.

Maintenance

I offer my services for setup and installation of new bags (sheepskin, cow hide, synthetic bags). I can also assist in getting your bagpipes playing and sounding amazing!

FAQ

The cost to hire Bob the Bagpiper will vary based on:
  • Travel Distance for the performance
  • How long do you want bagpiper to stay and perform
  • Other performances on the day
  • Is this a repeat gig from a good customer - discount!
  • Is this a non-profit event for a good cause - discount!
  • Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash, Check, Credit/Debit Card
  • Payment before or directly after performance
  • Tips are welcome
  • Repeat or established vendors get special terms
  • As long as you contact the bagpiper 12 hours before the performance, he will accept your cancellation without penalty.
  • Do not tell the bagpiper after he shows up at your door!
The Bagpiper knows quite a few tunes: 
  • WHEN will the performance be in the program?
  • WHERE do you want him to stand, or walk or march?
  • WHAT is he to play - Happy/Sad/Festive tunes?
  • HOW long do you want him to play? 
  • Do you have some favorite tunes to request?
The Bagpiper will make a recommendation based on the above.

If you have no clue how to answer the above questions, and just want something appropriate, that's ok! The Bagpiper can STILL recommend options based on experience.
